PBL Info Meeting
Come to our PBL Info Meeting on Tuesday, September 8 at 4:00pm in the Titan Student Union Room Alvarado B. This is your chance to learn about the organization, what we did in the past, what we’ll be doing this year, and to meet great new people! We’ll discuss what Phi Beta Lambda is, membership discount events, conferences, and what you can expect to experience and learn during the year.
Speaking of discount events – you can get $2 off your membership for every event you attend and the first event is the PBL Info Meeting! The other discount events will be the first general meeting on the 9th, a PBL social event, and a special charity event that we are planning called Twestival CSUF on September 14.
If you can’t attend the info meeting, don’t worry. You can always attend our General Meeting the next day.
General Meetings
Our first general meeting is Wednesday, September 9 at 4:00pm in the Titan Student Union in Gilman AB.
We’re going to have guest speakers Steve Averill and Justin Moore-Brown of OCJobTalk.com and OCBizblog.com. They are both Orange County entrepreneurs so this will be a great chance to network and learn about how they turn passion into profit.
Please note that all of our meetings will be on the last three Wednesdays of the month at 4pm. If you’re unable to attend meetings because of class, no worries…you can still join! We have events on different days of the week that you can participate in.
Membership
Phi Beta Lambda opens its membership to everybody which means students of all majors can join!
Membership is $80 per year and can be paid at any of the first three meetings.
You can download our membership application online here or pick it up at our table in front of Mihaylo Hall or at Discoverfest.
Officer Positions
We have two officer positions open to new and returning members: Executive Assistant and Design Manager. More information will be available at the Informational Meeting and the First General meeting.
Questions?
If you have any questions about the organization, feel free to contact Patrick Tomas, president, at patricktomas@csufpbl.org or by phone/text at 714.478.2366.
Come by our table at Discoverfest or in front of Mihaylo Hall and chat with us about what you want to experience this year!

SBLC Flashback Video!
Apr 10th
Bellow is the flashback video from SBLC that was created by one of our own CSUF PBL Alumni – Justin Tolentino. www.yuglook.com
The video is full of pictures of CSUF PBL’rs ! Great job everyone in representing CSUF PBL!
Do you have PCD?
Mar 30th
You just attended a PBL State or National Leadership Conference and learned from top notch speakers! Networked with business professionals and amazing members from around the state and/or country! Had the time of your life with new family and friends! And saw exciting new cities or campuses! You arrive home with confidence, achievement, contentment, and some level of personal growth.
Then, the next morning, you upload all your pictures and videos from the conference and change your status to something conference related…and then it hits you: BAM! Post-conference depression. You continue your day submerged in sadness, as you reminisce.
“Oh, if the conference could only have been one day longer! I miss those awesome people I met! I want to cheer in unison once again.” etc…
Yes. We, as fellow PBL members, share your pain.
That’s because PBL is just amazing like that!
If you suffer from PCD, then join the I ♥ PBL Conferences…I Hate The Depression That Follows! facebook group!

CSUF PBL! rocked at SBLC! I am so proud of our chapter! We did great!
Not only did we reclaim our title of California’s NEXT TOP CHAPTER, but we got 3rd place in the sweepstakes award , inducted two CSUF officers into the CA state officer team, and most importantly we had a great time!
I cannot express how happy I am about everyone’s performance at SBLC! We placed in every event that we participated in!
My favorite part of the conference were the keynote speakers that we had! Gabriel Blanc-Laine of Qtask.com talked to us about our online brand, about reaching our goals, and about his personal career growth and achievements. Unexpectedly, he used Patrick Tomas and Me- Jackie Perez as examples on personal online branding! He Googled our names, and posted up our faults and qualities in our online brand. The second keynote, Mr. Bryan Elliot of the So Cal Action Sports Network was also very informative! He talked to us about social media, and about building relationships online. He reminded us that the Social Media “rockstars” are people too , and to not be afraid to talk to them. He also brought up really great points such as- that sometimes it is not the “rockstars” that can do the most for you, sometimes local relationships can be the most beneficial.
What was your favorite and least favorite part of the conference?
Now, I cannot wait for NLC and see what we can do at the NATIONAL LEVEL!

A Message to YOU from James Li – Southern Section FBLA President 08-09
Mar 1st
A message to all of you amazing members that volunteered at the Southern Section Leadership Conference today!
Hi PBL!
Before I sent any other email, I just wanted to drop you a quick note to express my sincere appreciation for all of your support today. Whether it was working out of a five foot crawlspace behind the projector screen during the closing ceremony, getting members pumped up with your enthusiasm, losing your voice before the first testing session even began (sorry bout the megaphone
), helping us rehearse, or running errands, your help literally made this conference possible.
I am representing all Southern Section officers when I say THANK YOU for being flexible in our times of stress, energetic when we were all sleepy, and hands-down the most awesome group of people we’ve worked with. Your value today could not be overstated.
THANK YOU PBL VOLUNTEERS!!!!!

SBLC message from your president
Feb 26th
Hello Titans!!
All year long you have heard me rant about how badly I want to beat UCSD and Berkeley at SBLC and finally the time has come to prove that CSUF is the best PBL chapter in California!
I was very excited to see the enthusiasm for this conference at yesterday’s general meeting. I saw teams being formed, people asking questions and members encouraging each other to participate! Many of you signed up for competitive events yesterday and those of you that haven’t, its not too late! (look at previous blog posts to sign up)
I encourage you to look over the CAP to find out details about each of your events and so you know exactly what you are doing. Many times individuals loose points because they did not follow directions. It is sad to see when a person has a great idea or a really good score but gets disqualified because they did not follow directions.
Very soon you will get an email with the events that you have signed up for so that you can begin to prepare. I want to see TITANS place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in as many categories as possible!! I know we can do it!
If you have any questions about SBLC – don’t hesitate to email me at Jackieperez@csufbpl.org
